MECHANICAL HAZARD
Definition; Mechanical Hazards refer to moving machinery that can cause injury or death, according to Texas State University, OSHA explains that Mechanical Hazard occur in 3 basic area.;
•At the point where work is performed.
•In the power transmission apparatus
•In other moving parts.
Example of Mechanical Hazard;
How to prevent;
•Prevent contact: Prevent workers body or clothing from contacting hazardous moving parts.
•Be secure: Firmly secured to machine and not easily removed.
•Protect from falling objects: Ensure that no objects can fall into moving parts.
•Allow safe lubrications: If possible, be able to lubricate the machine without removing the safe guard.
•Create no new hazard: Must not have shear points, jagged edges or unfinished surfaces.
