Concepts of incident.

On our last study session, we have learnt about the concepts of incident. Mr. Farhan have talked more in depth about causes and its effect.

Incident as we understand is an unexpected, unplanned event in sequence of events. Incident occurs through a combination of causes.

Incident can result in;

Physical harm. eg; injury, health illness or disease.

Damage to property.

A near miss.

Any combination of these effects.

Reasons we should avoid Incidents from happening is;

Legal rights.

Human rights.

Business.

We also learned about the Domino Theory by Herbert W.Heinrich.

We can see that the domino is falling and causes injury to happens. But injury can be avoided if we took out one of the causes.

Poor Management Safety Policy & Decision Personal Factors.

Cost of Incident Prevention

Design cost; Installing machine guard to protect worker.

Operational cost; Running a Safety Department (Training, PPE)

Planning and consequence; Limiting cost safeguarding the future, cost for envinronmental sampling and safety audit.
